Understanding Myopia Control
Myopia control employs an array of techniques and treatments to hinder myopia progression. These strategies are personalized to your child’s needs and can adjust as they change.
In collaboration with you and your child, we can provide a roadmap to understanding myopia and the ways to manage it.
Myopia in Children
Understanding the correlation between healthy vision and successful learning is crucial for parents. Early detection can help manage the risk of developing high myopia, which could increase the risk of developing:
- Glaucoma
- Cataracts
- Retinal tears and detachments
- Myopic macular degeneration
Signs & Symptoms of Myopia in Kids
Myopia may obstruct a child’s learning process by impacting their ability to focus on tasks like schoolwork.
If your child exhibits the following symptoms, a comprehensive eye examination with our team can help determine your child’s appropriate myopia management solution:
- Straining to see distant objects
- Blurry distance vision
- Frequent headaches
- Eye fatigue
What Are Our Approaches?
Our Total Myopia program provides a number of myopia management strategies personalized for your child’s unique needs.
The process starts with a comprehensive eye exam. During the exam, we’ll assess your child’s health history and lifestyle to determine how myopia may affect them, and then create a personalized strategy to help maintain your child’s clear vision.
MiSight Contact Lenses
MiSight 1 day lenses are soft contact lenses designed to manage myopia in children.
With ActivControl technology, these lenses correct and slow down myopia progression in kids aged 8–12. By influencing how light focuses on the retina, they help manage the development of myopia.
Low-Dose Atropine Drops
Low-dose atropine eye drops can manage myopia by slowing down its progression by suppressing eye growth. Contact lenses or glasses may still be recommended for clear vision during the day.
